Privacy policy

The UK Name Change Service is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. We do not collect information about visitors to our website except when it is knowingly provided to us by an individual who is either submitting a Deed Poll application or making an enquiry which contains personal information. All personally identifiable information collected by us will be stored and used in strict accordance with this privacy policy.

Providing your data to third parties

We operate a fully confidential service and will therefore not provide your data to third party organisations accept in the following circumstances:

  • When contacted by a government department, company or organisation to confirm the authenticity of your Deed Poll or Certified Copies.
  • When contacted by police or other law enforcement agencies and asked to provide information for the purpose of preventing or detecting a crime, or to assist in the apprehension or prosecution of offenders. We will only provide law enforcement agencies with information in accordance with section 29(3) of the Data Protection Act 1998 which means we will not assist police with missing persons enquiries.

Storage of your personal information

All information we receive as part of a Deed Poll application is stored in an encrypted database which is hosted on a secure server. While submitting your personal information to our database for processing it is protected by 128-bit SSL security.

Our payment processing provider, WorldPay Ltd. is part of banking giant, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc. Therefore, you can expect the same high level of security for your payment information as you would experience in an RBS branch, online banking system or cash machine. Please note: in usual circumstances the UK Name Change Service will never be privy to your payment information; all transaction data is handled by RBS on their own secure system. The exception to this is if you elect to pay for your Deed Poll over the telephone using your credit or debit card.

All physical  copies of your application information, such as a printed version, will be shredded upon the successful processing of your Deed Poll.

Finding out what information we hold about you

You can request a copy of the personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act, 1998. There is no fee payable for this service. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please send your request to:
