How can I pay for my Deed Poll?

You can pay for your Deed Poll and associated services through an array of payment methods. Listed below are each of the methods of payment we accept and any specific information you might need in order to use that payment method.

Credit or debit card
PayPal
Cheque
Postal Order
Bank transfer
Branch deposit

Credit or debit card

We accept all major credit and debit cards as payment for Deed Polls and our other services. If you opt to pay online with your credit or debit card at the time of your application, you will be taken to our secure payment server, hosted by RBS WorldPay (part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group), in order to process your payment. Once we have received authorisation from your card issuer, we will immediately treat your application and fully paid and will begin to process it in accordance with your chosen processing service.

PayPal

We have recently added PayPal to our list of accepted payment methods, providing you with a secure and efficient way of paying for our services. Using PayPal you can make your payment to us from either your PayPal balance or from a credit or debit card which you have stored on your PayPal account.

PLEASE NOTE: We will not begin to prepare your Deed Poll until your payment has cleared. Therefore, we do not reccomend using your bank account as a funding source as it can sometimes take up to 10 days for such payments to clear.

Cheque

While we are perfectly happy to accept cheques, you should be aware that there will be substantial delays in processing your Deed Poll application if you choose to use this payment method

Estimated timescale for paying with cheques:

Receiving a cheque by post: 1 - 3 working days
Banking the cheque: 1 - 2 working days
Time for cheque to clear: 3 - 5 working days

Average time delay when paying by cheque: 6 working days

If you are not in a hurry for your Deed Poll there should be no problem in waiting those extra days for your cheque to clear but if you do need your Deed Poll document urgently, perhaps you might consider using a postal order as a speedier alternative.

Cheques should be made payable to "UK Name Change Service" and sent to:

UK Name Change Service
15 Vicarage Road
DAGENHAM
Essex
RM10 9SD

Postal Order

Although Postal Orders are now dealt with in exactly the same way as cheques (must be paid into a bank account and take five working days to clear), we treat them as cash and us such will start to process your Deed Poll application as soon as your postal order arrives at our office, therefore avoiding the 5 working day delay usually experienced with cheques.

Postal Orders should be made payable to "UK Name Change Service" and sent to:

Payment Processing
UK Name Change Service
15 Vicarage Road
DAGENHAM
Essex
RM10 9SD

WARNING: You should always cross a Postal Order or Cheque which is to be sent by post so that it must be paid into a bank account in the same name as is on the postal order.

Bank transfers

If you are signed up for online banking you can send a BACS payment directly to our bank account. Payments sent using this method will usually reach us within 3 working days unless youa re with the same bank as us, in which case, it is usually instant. You must provide your postcode and current surname in the "description" box of the payment form otherwise we will be unable to identify your application and apply the payment.

Please scroll to the bottom of this page to find our bank account details.

Deposit at a Natwest branch

If you need to pay for your Deed POll application urgently but do not have a credit or debit card you can pay the application fee directly into our bank account by depositing the funds at any Natwest branch. Payments made at a branch will usually appear within a few minutes of making the deposit but can take until the end of the working day.

NOTE: This payment method is only available by special arrangement. Due to the nature of of branch deposits, we cannot have multiple payments being made within a short space of time and therefore ask that you contact us by phone to arrange a suitable date and time.
