Why Do People Change Their Name?

People change their name for all sorts of reasons and they are legally entitled to do so as long as they are not attempting to deceive or defraud anyone. Below is a list of the most common reasons for someone to change their name by Deed Poll:

  • People do not like the name they were given at birth.
  • Newly married couples wish to use both their surnames and join them together with a hyphen.
